Cheap and Cheerful?

Is the cheapest Critical Illness Insurance Quote always the best one?

The simple answer is, no!

Critical Illness Insurance is very different to Life Cover. With Life Insurance generally price is the single most important factor most people consider when comparing providers. With Critical Illness cover the policies provided by each insurer can vary wildly.

If you are looking for the policy that covers against the most illnesses, this may well not be the cheapest.

Make sure you check the cover thoroughly before purchasing.

Are Benefits Taxed?

For most people the claim proceeds from a Critical Illness Insurance contract are paid tax free.  The payment is received as a tax free lump sum and they are free to spend the proceeds however they chose.

The monies could be used to reduce debt, such as a mortgage or credit cards, or may be used to make alterations to the home to aid mobility.  Some people use the proceeds to buy a car or go on holiday, or simply leave the money in the bank.  The choice is yours.

Big Action Needed

It still amazes me, after all the years that I have been involved in this industry, we are still not tackling the heart of the issue, Critical Illness will still occur in the western world, at ever alarming rates because our Governments don't have the will to do what's needed.

Governments could and should ban the sale of cigarettes.  Here in the UK packaging of cigarettes is covered with graphically portrayed warnings that "Smoking Causes Cancer" yet we still allow them to be sold.  It's crazy beyond belief.  Ok, I appreciate that governments enjoy the tax revenues attached to cigarette sales and that people continually criticize the so called "Nanny State" but surely cigarettes should be banned.

If we try and look forward a couple of hundred years, imagining a Star Trek style future for the human race, do we think people will still be smoking and the cigarettes will be legal?  I think many people, me certainly included, would guess no.  So, is it only a matter of time before they are banned?  I certainly hope so!

Remember, these are just my opinions.  As they say at McDonalds, Make Up Your Mind!
